The Running Man

Joseph

 

Joseph is the main character of the story and is described as a shy and artistic 14 year old boy. Being the protagonist in the story, we as readers follow the events of the novel through Joseph's eyes and discover more about the other characters through his view.

 

As Joseph begins to get to know more about the three characters below, he discovers more about them and the reasons for their actions and how they appear at a first sight. Through Joseph's innocence and somewhat guileless eyes we see his opinion of the characters change and our opinion of them changes with him as readers.

 

As Joseph begins to understand why Tom Leyton stays locked away in his house, why The Running Man continuously runs and why Mrs Mossop makes such quick assumptions about others, we begin to see how wrong the first judgment of someone can be from their appearance.
